Bytham Phillamena

Bytham Phillamena was a mare that we knew with her breeder Pat Bowles and always much admired. When Pat dispersed her herd, Philly went to Penny Walster to be the first wife for her young stallion Bytham Justin Time. They produced a filly together in 2011, Bathleyhills Amenable. Following on from a conversation with Penny in 2012, we established that Penny was far too busy with her extensive herd of sports ponies to breed any more Caspians in the near future, so Philly was offered to me to breed a couple of foals. I quickly had her moved to Barbara Smathers yard to be covered by her stallion Arjuna Akbar Shah - and 12 years later she remains here with me!

Philly has bred many lovely progeny over the years, consistently passing on great type, temperament and her pretty head. She has very much been a career broodmare and thoroughly enjoys raising her own foals, as well as nannying everyone else's! We are very pleased that she is scanned well in foal to a lovely young stallion for 2025. This will likely be her last foal due to her age.
