Holloway Caspians began with the arrival of Bytham Parimetta in Autumn 2011. Parimetta was soon backed and ridden for a short time, before the decision was made to put her in foal to preserve her rare bloodlines.
Parimetta was quickly joined by three further broodmares – Bytham Phillamena, Lanhill Alima and Lanhill Minoo. Our first crop of foals were born in 2013 – 4 lovely fillies by Teymour Taj and Arjuna Akbar Shah. We have continued to breed a handful of foals almost every year since, selling some on to other breeders or to ridden homes wherever possible.
All four of these mares have bred a number of progeny and contributed significantly to the Caspian gene pool in Europe. Minoo was sold to Sweden in 2018 and Alima to France in 2025. Parimetta is still with us, although now retired from breeding and Phillamena is carrying a foal for 2026, which will be her last.
More recently we have started to breed part-breds using AI, putting Connemara, Welsh and Sports Pony stallions on our Caspian mares, with the aim of producing slightly larger ponies for a wider market, but retaining the excellent brain and ability of the Caspian.
